Part P Installation

IMPORTANT NEWS.

On January 1st 2005 part P of the Building Regulations became LAW.  Many types of electrical Work in Domestic properties now have to be registered with the Building authorities.

This, contrary to belief, does not mean he public can't still carry out there own electrical work.  However, anything that falls under Part P of the building regulations has to be registered with the planning authority.  In a nutshell you will have to apply for planning permission BEFORE you start installing an extra socket in your kitchen or supplying electricity to an ornamental garden feature.

That could lead to weeks of delay for that sake of a socket.  It could also lead to a hefty fine if you don't register the work.

Chadd Electrical Testing is a registered installer for Part P.  That means that we can carry the work out without having to apply to the building authorities.  Once the work is done we can then "self-certify" the work and then register the work with the relevant authority.  This not only removes most of the waiting time but also saves you money.

The scheme of which we are members is run by the national Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers (N.A.P.I.T).  Not only do we regularly have our work inspected but our clients have the guarantee that the work is carried out to a high standard and that a full complaints procedure is in place should you not be satisfied with the work.

To find out if the electrical work you want to carry out falls under Part P of the building regulations visit the website of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. (see links page)
