Installation Testing

Much the same as portable appliance testing is a way of ensuring your electrical equipment is safe to use installation testing checks for possible safety problems in your "fixed wiring".

A socket without a good earth connection will have the potential to make a safe Class one appliance dangerous if a fault occurs.  Why?  Well Class one equipment relies on a good earth connection at the socket to make it safe.

Insulation resistance of the fixed wiring is also an essential part of electrical safety.  Cables that have had their insulation compromised either during installation of through wear and tear could lead to a "hot-spot" in the wiring and could therefore lead to the start of a fire.  Imagine the consequences if that happens in a storeroom full of stationary!

Domestic and residential premises are just as much at risk.  This is why installations in bathrooms, Kitchens and outside now have to be registered with the building authorities under Part P of the Building regulations.  Just the same as that new extension  you have always wanted or the loft conversion you wish to do next year.

All our testing is carried out in accordance with the 16th Edition of the wiring regulations.  This includes a report of the findings which include.

bulletTechnical details of the supply,
bulletDetails of the required tests for each circuit identified for testing.
bulletNotification of any problems found and the urgency of and work that needs to be carried out.

We would always invite you to contact other contractors to carry out any work that is required.  So your don't have to feel that you are tied to using our services just because we did the testing!
